Road Trip

Well, So much for my schedule this week.  If you follow my Shop or Ravelry Group, you already know that This week I am on my way to visit with my Dad.  He is going in for surgery on monday, which his doctors have told him that he needs or else.  The trouble is, they have also told him that going uder anestesia is extremely risky for him, with his heart issues.

Well, he decided (and we agree) that it would be best to do the surgery, with its heightened risk, so that he can have a chance to see his grandkids grow up.  We are praying that this wiill work, as in the past few years he has had far too many heart attacks for comfort.

In the meantime, when we heard just how risky the surgery is, (just this week) we decided that we needed to go down and spend the few days leadng up to it with him.  We hope and pray that it winds up superflous, and that all goes well.  But we are not taking a chance on this one.

So, this morning, Off we went, having cancelled several appointments for this week, and cleared out schedules.  I went into massive laundry mode yesterday, maing sure that we did not leave any dirty diapers, and that we had enough clothes to take clean.  (and wouldn’t you know it, I STILL missed a dirty diaper.)

The kids started out the trip in good spirits.  They were excited to be going to see grandpa, and climbed in the car happily.  After a few hours, they started getting bored, and off came their shoes.  I triedto take pictures of them, but all they wanted to show was the feet!

I could not get them to smile without their feet in the picture!

I have to admit, the scenery is lovely on this drive, for much of it.  which is a good thing, because it is a VERY long drive, spanning NORMALLY around 12-13 hours.  With 2 young children and a nearly 30 weeks pregnant lady… well, lets just say it is a long drive.

There is a particular spot which we pass each time we take this drive, and it is one of the most lovely veiws, especially in early evening… unfortunately, by the time we were passing it tongiht, the sun was already starting to set, and my flash would have gone off.  Since the veiw is on my husband’s side, I chose NOT to try for a photo, being afraid that the flash might impair his vision, very dangerous when driving.

At any rate, Since I will not be home for a few days, and therefore unable to follow my typical schedule, I may add extra blog entries this week.  Perhaps some pictures of the kids with their grandpa may get slipped in.

Say a few prayers, or send a few positive thoughts, along the way to my dad this week.  If all goes well, I’ll probably update sometime monday or tuesday and let you all know how it went.  I refuse to think about if things do not go well for the moment.

Till later, Happy spinning, Happy crafting, and have a good week.

Photo Friday

Happy Friday once again to all my readers!  It was a big Photo Day today, so I will just show you some of my favorites. (and darn it, I still forgot to take pictures of the last couple yarns I’ve spun… but I am aching too much, so they will wait till next week)

"Thunder Storm Skies" - these are layered batts with blue, white, and grey merino. They also include firestar, angelina, and corn fiber.

"Blue Skies" - Merino and Bamboo

Lots of orifice hooks, of all sizes and lengths. Most will fit in modern or antique wheels alike! These will all be hitting the shop in the next few weeks.

I have had these stitch markers made up for a while, but could not find a way to photograph them well enough... I think I have now. Hello to the bunnies!

Can we say Flower Power? Sweet and pretty, these would be a great gift for a young knitter, or just fot the young at heart!

Ok, so this will be all the hint you need to discover my theme for April's Phat Fiber contributions... Yup, you guessed it! ladybugs! The only Cute bugs I ever saw.

Was that enough pictures for one day?  I hope so.  I’d like to remind you if you don’t think so, that I do after all take many pictures for every one I actually use… I have been standing over the camera and lightbox for the last 3 hours! (ok, and then hunched over the computer in photoshop choosing and cropping photos too)

Till Next week,

Later, Gators!

A few notes from me…

Well, the money is sent, and my new CPW (yes, it is mine now, as soon as the money is received anyway) will be on its way to me very soon.  I am getting more and more excited to see it.

On a more personal note, I am 28 weeks pregnant this week.  Officially in the third trimester, and getting a little nervous.  Not about the birth, but about being ready, and how my fiber business will hold up against the needs of 3 children.

I know that I will keep on persevering, and I hope that my customers will continue to shop with me.  I am planning to take a couple weeks at least for a break from most aspects of the business, particularly the carding and dyeing aspects.  But I will still get any orders during that time shipped within normal times, that I promise.  and, if I am able to build up some stock between now and then, I will attempt to keep listing new items as often as possible.

During the few weeks surrounding the birth of my third child, my plan is to rest, and enjoy the new babe as much as possible.  (knowing that I will have enough interruptions from the older children)  I hope that within a couple weeks I will be back to carding and dyeing as usual, and I even hope to run a spin along on my ravelry group beginning sometime in mid- to late- June.

Which leads to another topic.  Did you know that Crystal City fibers now has a ravelry group?   I set it up so that customers and friends will have a place to show off their WIPs (works in progress) and FOs (Finished Objects).  Also, I would love to begin in the future to do some spin alongs, or even fiber clubs.  I thought the group might be a good place to gauge interest.

Right now, the group is pretty small, having only been established early this week.  But, Come on over and join us, and it will be one person larger.

To join or visit the group, go to Crystal City Fibers Ravelry Group.  All are welcome!

I don’t have any new pictures to share today.  I posted my newest pictures on Friday, and while I intend to take some more pictures this afternoon, and to continue with yesterday’s carding session, I just don’t have any for now.  But I promise to have new pictures on Friday, as usual, and I hope you’ll stop by then!
