Its been too long… and a little Yarn Every Day

and I am so sorry for that.  I have not posted to the blog here in weeks.  We’ve had quite a few weeks of eventfulness here.  As I meantioned in my last post, I am closing shop on Beeba Bottoms.  though I think I would still offer embroidery service within limits.  I have been running a destash sale on my favorite diaper-making message board for the past week, and have recouped a lot of money, from some fabrics I had almost forgotten I had.  Really, with the business closing, I needed to destash a lot of it… it was just too much.

Of course, this money means I can invest more into my fiber Business, Crystal City Fibers.  and I am investing.  I am buying a drum carder, just as soon as the rest of the money form the destash comes in.

I’ll also be looking to sell off one of my sewing machines, and possibly my poor, neglected fidelis wheel.  between the 2 items, I will have plenty to invest further into more fibers and yarns.

Now, eventually, it would be nice if some of these fibers and yarns were to sell.  With that in mind, there is a new yarn everyday challenge on.  And here are some pictures to go with the challenge. :)

June 1, spun on some fiber from one of the many swaps I am participating in:

yarn-everyday-6-1June 2, finished the bobbin from the day before, and drafted out the slightly compacted (though not felted) fiber for the second bobbin.

June 3, revived some long forgotten fiber that I had been spinning up on my also moslty forgotten fidelis.  this wheel is such a good little wheel, and I neglect it so… I feel guilty.

June 4, spun more on the swap fiber.

June 5,  OMGoodness!  I don;t think I have a picture for the 5th!!  well, I spun more on that same fiber… several hours.  I got it all spun up, so that on the 6th, I could do this:

and with that, the fullest bobbin I have ever done on the bug (a whopping 6.5 ounces, and I could have fit just a little bit more on), I will leave off for today, with the mention that I will update again very soon, adding more yarn everyday, and more good crafty, or family fun!

Beeba Bottoms Diapers is closing…

I’m a little sad and apprehensive, but a lot rellieved to be announcing this.

After a lot of thought, I decided that the diaper business just is not bringing enough profit or fulfillment to be worth keeping open.  With that said, out with the old and in with the new.

I am releived to be destashing a large percent of my diaper making fabrics.

Now, don’t let it fool you.  I’ll still be making diapers.  just not on a large scale.  I’ll still make diapers for friends, and on a case by case deal, for former customers as well. No one has to worry that I will be completely gone.  But I just cannot keep all this stuff, so it will be a lot smaller.

I am also going to be destashing one of my sewing machines.  It is practically new, and just sitting, because my embroidery machine also does regular sewing, and I’d much rather have that than one that only sews.

I can’t wait to get some of this stuff gone.  Then I can use some of the money I’ll recoup and put it towards my new love, the spinning and fiber stuff.  because really, in spinning I have found a true calling.  one that is not at the whim of having little babies.  and honestly, i can do more and more spinning as the kids get older… which was always a problem with the diapers…

and now, wonder of wonders, the diaper makers children may get some new diapers!  imagine that.  I never allowed myself time to make theis before.  so they always had the sad seconds I couldn’t sell, or the origianl stuff from before I got good, lol.  now, they can have the good stuff.  That alone makes me happy.

Of course, I will be keeping the blog, since, after all, it evolved a long time ago from being a shop blog to being a personal and crafting blog, didn’t it?  and its a lot more fun this way.  so don’t stop coming here!

later, I have some destashing and organizing to do!
